Collection: Cold and flu season

It’s wintertime. You know what that means, cold and flu season. We all dread this time of year despite the happy times such as the holidays it’s a difficult season for families. From babies to elders no one is exempt. With covid to RSV, we’re all doing our best to protect ourselves.

We’re now in 2022 and trying to protect ourselves from the cold, flu (types A and B), RSV, and covid. With so many variants going around this year so many people are getting sick. This year babies and children are being hit the hardest. Lots of babies are being hospitalized children are missing days, weeks, and even months of school. Parents are using sick days and/or vacation time to take care of their sick babies/children. Ear infections are at an all-time high to a point of there being shortages in antibiotics and medicines. Causing nightmares for parents.

According to the CDC, statistics show there are about 18-37 million cases of the flu, and 12,000-35,000 deaths from the flu virus so far. In comparison to 2021-2022, there were 9 million cases and 5,000 death.

So why are there so many cases this year? Deaths? And why are the babies and children getting hit the hardest this year? Maybe because of the different variants of the cold? That we may never know.

The point is to protect ourselves and our families. Now how do we do that? First off by staying safe. If you’re sick stay home and get better to prevent the spread of the cold and flu. Second is to protect our bodies. That is by taking vitamins such as vitamin C, zinc, black seed oil, oil of oregano, fire cider, elderberry, and sea moss. Consuming herbal teas with lemon, garlic, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cayenne pepper, echinacea, peppermint, reishi mushrooms, shiitake mushroom, turkey tail mushroom, and the old-school remedies from our elders.

I know this may not be the solution to this year's brutal cold and flu season but it’s a start in protecting ourselves.

We have elderberry and sea moss on our online store to get you started.

Stay safe. Stay healthy.
